Donald Trump has filed a $100 million lawsuit against the city of Rancho Palos Verdes and says the city has been trying to stymie development at his golf club.
Trump's suit was filed Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court.
"I've been looking forward for a long time to do this," Trump said of the lawsuit Friday in a phone interview from New York. "The town does everything possible to stymie everything I do."
In the suit, The Donald alleges that the city forced him to spend millions of dollars on unnecessary geological studies. The studies were related to the proposed construction of 20 homes and other structures at the Trump National Golf Club. He says the town should be grateful for his developments.
"I took a piece of land that was lying fallow, tied up in courts for years and created the No. 1 course in California," Trump said.
City officials say Trump has sued before, and they're not taking this too seriously.
The city's mayor, Larry Clark, told the LA Times, "We have bent over backwards many, many times to work with Donald Trump. I'm sure this lawsuit is really going to anger a lot of the residents."
