Tea Party Unveils Website to Target 50 Key Races

Tuesday, 14 Sep 2010 02:08 PM

The Nationwide Tea Party Coalition has unveiled a new website to help grass-roots efforts to win the 50 races deemed critical to conservatives' attempts to seize power in the House of Representatives.

Among the Democrats being targeted at the ElectionDayTeaParty.com site: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Barney Frank of Massachusetts, and Rep. Ron Klein of Florida.

Michael Patrick Leahy, author of “Rules for Conservative Radicals” and co-founder of the National Tea Party Coalition, tells Newsmax the ElectionDayTeaParty site is designed for use by tea party activists and supporters, and by "tea party sympathizers" who may have never attended a tea party rally.

"The purpose of the site is to give them an answer to the question, 'What can I do?'" Leahy says. "There are very specific things they can do on this Web site to help unseat incumbents in these 50 key races in the House of Representatives."

The site invites visitors to sign up for occasional updates, and suggests ways voters can influence the outcome of the midterm elections. It also provides links to the GOP challengers' Web sites.

"ElectionDayTeaParty.com is designed to give every American who wants to turn back the left’s progressive agenda a way to channel their support directly to candidates, and have the most impact leading up to and on Election Day," declared a Nationwide Tea Party Coalition news release. "Of all of the races, these are the ones that matter; these are the ones on the bubble. These are the ones that with your help, we can win."

Republicans need a net gain of 39 seats in November to assume majority control in the House.
