A visit by Fox News host Bill O’Reilly to “The View” Thursday triggered a explosion that resulted in two panelists, Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg, storming off the show during a discussion of the ground zero mosque. O’Reilly, who was promoting his book, “Pinheads and Patriots,” was called a pinhead as co-host Barbara Walters criticized the two for storming off the set, according to USA Today.
O’Reilly began with a discussion of the election and called the midterm elections next month a referendum on Barack Obama’s presidency. It was only later that he brought up the mosque, which triggered the verbal fisticuffs.
O’Reilly said he was against locating the mosque two blocks from the site of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Goldberg asked why it would be inappropriate to build the center near ground zero, to which O'Reilly responded, "Muslims killed us on 9/11."
Goldberg then exploded. The sound dropped several times, which some are suggesting was the result of bad language.
Behar called O’Reilly’s assertion BS and said she didn't want to sit there anymore, and then she and Whoopi walked off the set.
After Behar and Goldberg made their exit, Barbara Walters disagreed with their actions, saying they should be able to discuss things without walking away, but added that O'Reilly can't demean a whole religion based on the actions of extremists.
