Bestselling author and No. 1 cable TV host Bill O’Reilly has already selected his next book topic: President Barack Obama.
“He’s becoming a historical figure not because he’s black, but because his liberal agenda is taking the country in a direction we’ve never been before,” O’Reilly told New York Post columnist Cindy Adams.
O’Reilly said the Obama tome will debut in late 2010. He leaked news of his latest literary endeavor during his “100 months at No. 1” media tour recognizing the remarkable endurance of The O’Reilly Factor atop the cable news ratings.
O’Reilly has become something of a one-man media conglomerate. He recently gave up his syndicated radio program to focus on The O’Reilly Factor, but in the past 10 years has written five New York Times bestsellers: Culture Warrior, The O'Reilly Factor, The No Spin Zone, The O'Reilly Factor for Kids, and his latest, A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity, which has been on the bestsellers list for 23 months.
O’Reilly’s longevity atop the cable ratings is confirmed by data from Nielsen Media Research.
In his interview with the Post, cable’s No. 1 anchor gave readers a peek at what he’s like in the workplace. He said he writes the entire show himself and has a staff of 15.
“Working for me,” he said in the interview, “you've got to be a Navy SEAL. No mistakes. I need facts, or it'll get rammed down my throat.”
On a post to his Web site, O'Reilly quipped about the secret to his longevity: "I think it's because we give stuff away, or maybe folks just find the hour honest and fun to watch."
