Newsmax Poll: 87% Want Bush Tax Cuts Renewed

By Jim Meyers   |   Monday, 13 Sep 2010 02:49 PM

An Internet poll sponsored by Newsmax.com reveals that by an overwhelming margin of nearly nine to one, Americans want the Bush tax cuts to be renewed before the end of the year.

The poll, which has drawn more than 258,000 responses, also discloses that Americans agree by a huge margin that the tax cuts should be renewed even for the wealthiest Americans — households earning at least $250,000 a year.
The tax cuts were enacted in 2001 and lowered federal income tax rates across the board. They are set to expire at the end of 2010 unless Congress acts to extend them.

Newsmax will provide the results of this poll to major media and share them with radio talk show hosts across the country.
Here are the poll questions and results:

1) Do you believe the Bush tax cuts should be renewed?

Yes, renew them: 87 percent

No, don’t renew them: 13 percent

2) Do you agree with President Obama that the Bush tax cuts should be renewed for only those making under $250,000 a year?

No, I disagree with Obama: 82 percent

3) Should Congress increase the capital gains and dividend tax rates to 20 percent as President Obama proposes?
