McCain Leading Charge Against 'Clunkers' Bill

Sunday, 02 Aug 2009 10:29 PM

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is going to lead GOP members in an effort to block additional funding for the cash for clunkers program, according to The Hill. The measure is scheduled to come up for consideration in the Senate this week.

The House has already voted to pour $2 billion more into the program, which is running out of money before the anticipated end-date in November.

Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) during an appearance on Fox News Sunday. “The role of the federal government is not to run the used car business.”
