Sen. John Kerry has contributed $1 million to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, he disclosed in an e-mail to supporters on Tuesday.
“It’s time to push even harder to completely change Washington,” the Massachusetts Democrat said. “So I have an announcement: I just gave a million dollars from my campaign to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee to try to make this happen.”
Kerry had millions left over from his unsuccessful 2004 White House bid, and had $7.5 million on hand as of late August, The Hill newspaper reported.
He is up for re-election this year, but is not considered to be threatened by Republican security consultant Jim Beatty.
