Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama are virtually tied in four key battleground states, and McCain leads his Democratic rival in a fifth by nearly double digits.
According to a newly released Fox News/Rasmussen Reports poll, McCain and Obama are within 3 percentage points of each other in Colorado, Florida, Pennsylvania and Virginia. In Ohio, McCain has opened up a 7-point lead.
Results of the poll: Colorado: Obama 49 percent; McCain 46 percent. Florida: McCain 48 percent; Obama 48 percent. Pennsylvania: Obama 47 percent; McCain 45 percent. Virgina: McCain 49 percent; Obama 47 percent. Ohio: McCain 51 percent; Obama 44 percent.
According to Fox News, the poll shows that McCain is trusted more, and viewed more favorably, than Obama in all five states. It also shows that McCain's running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin, has a higher “very favorable” rating than any other candidate in the presidential race.
The poll interviewed 500 likely voters in each state. Its margin of error is plus/minus 4.5 percentage points.
