Citizens United’s Bossie: Dems Try to Rig Election

By Dan Weil   |   Saturday, 25 Sep 2010 03:55 PM

The Disclose Act, which would force corporations and unions to reveal all their political ad sponsorships, represents a Democratic attempt to steal the midterm elections, says David Bossie, president of Citizens United.

“President Obama will say and do anything to preserve his majorities in the House and Senate,” Bossie told Newsmax.TV. The act “is nothing more than an incumbent protection plan. They want to rig the election, take it out of the hands of the American people.”

The bill came after the Supreme Court ruled in the Citizens United case, which Bossie’s conservative advocacy group pursued, that corporations and unions have a right to unlimited political spending under the First Amendment. The Disclose Act would violate the First Amendment, Bossie says.

On another note, Citizens United has produced a new video: “Fire from the Heartland: The Awakening of the Conservative Woman.”

Bossie says he noticed at the beginning of the year that women were emerging as leaders of the Republican Party and the conservative and tea party movements.

Mothers now are trying to keep their families together and run businesses, he says. “They’re sick and tired of what Washington is doing to destroy this great country.”

The film features Abigail Adams; Clare Booth Luce; Phyllis Schlafly; former Gov. Sarah Palin; Rep. Jean Schmidt, R-Ohio; Rep. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo.; Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn.; Anne Coulter; and Michelle Malkin.

The role of women in the conservative movement is powerful, Bossie says. “The power of women across America has only increased and will only continue to increase.”

Democrats try to marginalize conservative women, he says. That’s because these women “ruin the narrative of liberal Democrats,” Bossie says.

“Democrats like to play to the politics of fear, to the politics of haves versus have nots. They have always tried to play to women as though women aren’t able to think, lead and provide for themselves.”

The resurgence of conservative women is a testimony to self-reliance, Bossie says. “Women are saying they’re destroying our country, and we better take it back before it’s no longer there.”

Bossie is enthusiastic about the tea party movement. “It’s a resurgence of the conservative movement,” he says.

“Only after winning in the November elections will the American people and the Republican Party as a whole learn that the tea party movement isn’t some third party, but an essential part of the conservative movement and the Republican Party,” he says.
