Christians must get off the couch, register and vote if they want to repeat the successes of the 2010 elections, famed singer Pat Boone tells Newsmax.TV. Boone said he was “moved and surprised” to receive the Conservative Political Action Conference’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
“I'm moved because the stands and the positions I’ve taken over the years have been from my heart and from my own convictions and I have not expected other people particularly to notice,” Boone said while wearing his signature white buck shoes. “I don’t do it for that.”
Christians and conservatives must continue to be informed and engaged as the 2012 elections approach, the Newsmax contributor said, noting that when a good turnout is 40 percent or 50 percent of eligible voters, a committed group can make the difference.

If Christians “just vote we could carry every election on every level. But to do it we need to be informed, we need to be knowledgeable and we need to get off our couch and register and vote,” he said.
As to his own preferences in 2012, Boone said he liked former Govs. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts and Mike Huckabee of Arkansas, as well as businessman Donald Trump. All have proven records in governing, strategizing and running businesses.
“We have a man currently in office who’s never done any of those things; he’s learning on the job,” Boone said. “And we need people that have already done these things before. So, for me, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and even Donald Trump would be great choices.”
