Presidential candidate Barack Obama, D-Ill. has named four colleagues to his campaign’s congressional liaison team to "ensure that the member of Congress' counsel is considered in overall message strategy, campaign planning and execution," The Hill reports.
The four congressional advisers Obama selected to help him include congressional Democrats in his campaign's messaging are:Senior Advisor Phil Schiliro, Chief of Staff to Representative Henry Waxman of California.Senior Counsel Mike Strautmanis, a chief Obama advisor who served as Chief Counsel and Deputy Chief of Staff in Obama's Senate office.DNC Policy Director Karen Richardson, Obama's Iowa policy director who served as Deputy to the Policy Director in Obama's Senate office.Director of Congressional Affairs Michael Robertson, who served as Deputy to the Chief Counsel in Obama's Senate office.
“Americans cannot afford four more years of President Bush’s policies, and our new team in Washington will help us to stay in contact with members of Congress who know all too well how the divisive politics of the past have impeded progress on measures to move our country in a new direction,” says David Plouffe, Obama’s campaign manager.
