'Case Against Obama' on NY Times Bestseller List

By Jim Meyers   |   Thursday, 14 Aug 2008 10:00 AM

The new book, “The Case Against Barack Obama,” is debuting at No. 5 on the New York Times’ list of nonfiction best-sellers for the week of August 24.

Written by David Freddoso, a reporter for National Review Online, “The Case Against Barack Obama: The Unlikely Rise and Unexamined Agenda of the Media’s Favorite Candidate,” was published by Regnery Publishing, which also brought out “Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry” — a book that helped defeat John Kerry in 2004.

The liberal media has already condemned “The Case Against Barack Obama” because it could change the outcome of the election, as “Unfit for Command” did in 2004.

Freddoso begins with one of the most thorough examinations of the utterly corrupt Chicago political machine that gave birth to Obama’s political life, and moves on to explore the messianic image Obama has created for himself, and which a worshipping media projects.

The author digs deep into Obama’s shady connections to now-convicted Tony Rezko, a heavy contributor to his political campaigns, and details Obama’s ties to convicted domestic bomber William Ayers and controversial minister Jeremiah Wright.

Fredosso concludes: “Obama is not a bad person — it’s just that he’s like all the rest of them. Not a reformer. Not a messiah. Just like all the rest of them in Washington. And just like all the other liberals, too.”

Freddoso’s book has already reached No. 1 on Amazon.com’s list of best-sellers in the Political Science category.

Noting the success of the book, Marji Ross, president and publisher of Regnery Publishing, said: “There’s a pent-up demand from people on the right side of the aisle who feel that the mainstream media is effusively covering Barack Obama and not critically covering him.”
