Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour blasted the mainstream media Sunday for what he called its one-side coverage of the healthcare debated.

Reporters, he said, gave Obamacare a big ‘wet kiss.’

"I mean, since this thing passed last weekend, we have seen the longest wet kiss in political history given to the Obama administration by the liberal media elite, and every day that goes by, it gets sloppier," Barbour said on ABC's "This Week.”

That prompted laughter from another show guest, Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, a Democrat, according to The Hill.

Rendell then remarked, "I don't know what channels Haley watches, but that's a lousy wet kiss."

"It's getting pounded in the media; a lot of the media is pounding the bill," Rendell continued.

Barbour also said that the federal government has no right to require Americans to purchase healthcare plans -- much as it has no right to force them to buy guns, The Hill reported.

Mississippi is one of many that plan in the coming months to file a lawsuit against the federal government, claiming the White House has drastically overstepped its legal bounds.

"I do not believe the United States government has a right... the authority or power to force us to purchase health insurance any more than, in the name of homeland security, they can force every American to have to buy a gun," the governor said.
