Coulter: Media Vendetta Against Murdoch

By Jim Meyers   |   Wednesday, 20 Jul 2011 06:09 PM

The mainstream media’s obsession with the hacking scandal surrounding Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. is “their vendetta against Murdoch for owning Fox News,” conservative commentator Ann Coulter tells Newsmax.

She also notes that despite attempts to link Murdoch directly to the hacking and police bribery scandal, “it seems highly unlikely that Murdoch had any idea what certain rogue tabloid reporters were doing at a British newspaper that comprises one percent of News Corp.’s business.

“There’s certainly no evidence suggesting otherwise.”

The mainstream media’s attacks on Murdoch and his conservative media empire are par for the course for the left, according to Coulter, who observes in her latest book that liberals’ attacks on the right have often transcended mere rhetoric and reached the level of physical violence.

Murdoch himself was the victim of violence when he was hit with a shaving cream pie while testifying before members of the British parliament on Tuesday.

And Coulter has had to deal with attempted attacks from left-wingers as well.

One chapter of Coulter’s book “Demonic: How the Liberal Mob Is Endangering America” is titled: “Imaginary Violence from the Right vs. Actual Violence from the Left.”

Coulter observes that “in the entire nation’s history, there’s never been a presidential assassination attempt by a right-winger. There have been more than a dozen by left-wingers . . .

“In the first 222 years of this nation’s history, every single shooting of a national politician has been committed by either a liberal or someone even more deranged than the average liberal.”

She cites numerous examples of violence committed by liberals, including the Weathermen, whose former members include the host at a gathering that launched Barack Obama’s political career.

She declares that the political group the FBI considers the most dangerous in America is environmentalists, and in 2002 the bureau described the Earth Liberation Front as America’s most dangerous domestic terrorist group.

And she writes that “no conservative has ever thrown food at a prominent liberal,” while “liberals have thrown pies at William F. Buckley, Phyllis Schlafly, Anita Bryant, Milton Friedman, Bill Kristol, David Horowitz, and G. Gordon Liddy, among others.”
