Ann Coulter on Obama: 'He's a Marxist'

By Jim Meyers   |   Wednesday, 29 Oct 2008 11:41 AM

Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter tells Newsmax she would vote for Mickey Mouse over “Marxist” Barack Obama and predicts his presidency will mean “total disaster” for the average American family.

Asked by Newsmax’s Ashley Martella about the significance of Obama’s recently disclosed 2001 comments about wealth distribution, Coulter declared: “He’s a Marxist. What a surprise! All his friends are Marxists.

“This business about William Ayers … To act like the only bad thing William Ayers even did was to try to blow up the Pentagon and police stations and the Capitol 30 years ago is nonsense. He was in Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela just a year or two ago, praising Hugo Chavez.

“These are Obama’s friends right now … and he goes around talking about spreading the wealth.”

Martella asked the best-selling author — whose most recent book is “If Democrats Had Any Brains, They’d Be Republicans” — what an Obama presidency and “a far-left Congress would mean for the average American family.”

Coulter replied: “Total disaster. If you remember the Jimmy Carter years, think of that but worse.

“It’s going to be a very bad four years if Obama wins.”

Coulter said that aside from a tax hike and a troubled economy, the “biggest thing we have to keep our eyes on are all the measures liberals want to take to prevent the pendulum from ever swinging back again, such as the Fairness Doctrine, judicial appointments and applying campaign finance rules to the Internet.”

Asked by Martella what part of John McCain’s campaign “isn’t working,” Coulter responded: “The candidate! I’m amazing he’s as close as he is. I expected him to be 75 points behind.

“He’s a liberal. We knew that…

“Thanks heavens Sarah Palin came along so Americans have someone to vote for here in a very frightening year.

“I’d vote for Mickey Mouse over B. Hussein Obama. This is a frightening year. But I wouldn’t be discouraged by the polls. To the contrary, I am stunned and delighted that Americans are smart enough to make it as close as it is.”

Coulter added another encouraging note: “Right-wingers historically have come roaring back after a disaster like this portends.”
