MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin conservatives have filed petitions seeking recall elections for three of the 14 Democratic state senators who fled the state to try to block a vote on Republican Gov. Scott Walker's divisive union rights bill.

The recall organizers said Thursday that they gathered enough signatures to trigger recall elections for Sens. Dave Hansen, of Green Bay, Robert Wirch, of Pleasant Prairie and Jim Holperin, of Conover.

Petitions had already been filed against four Republican state senators over their support for the law. And petitions are still circulating seeking recall elections for four other Republican and five other Democratic state senators.

A judge has blocked the law from taking effect while she considers a lawsuit challenging the way it was passed. It would strip most public workers of collective bargaining rights.
