On the heels of a newly-published set of nude and semi-nude portraits taken in the gymnasium of the U.S. House of Representatives, the New York Daily News cites a “source close to” Rep. Anthony Weiner as revealing that the beleaguered congressman began on Sunday to seriously consider that he may have to resign.

weiner, mulls, resignationThe Daily News cited yet another source saying  that Weiner was surprised it took a couple of weeks for the latest gym photos to go viral on the Internet.

Heretofore, Weiner has resisted calls to resign from Democrat luminaries such as House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California. The House gym venue for the latest photos, however, adds yet another ethical dimension to the controversy and is sure to ramp up the outrage and possibly push Weiner to finally resign.

As the Daily News summarized: “But the unrelenting media coverage, the demands from his party's leaders that he step down and the appearance of more humiliating photos made Weiner realize he may not be able to bull his way through the crisis after all, the source said.”
