As Rep. Anthony Weiner’s world implodes in a sexting scandal and cover-up, he took the time to call former President Bill Clinton to apologize for his conduct. The driving force behind the call obviously is the fact that Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, is very close to the Clintons.

Abedin is a longtime aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Bill Clinton officiated at her marriage to the Democratic New York congressman in July. She called Hillary for counsel before Weiner went public with his confession Monday, according to The Wall Street Journal
Abedin initially believed her husband’s story that his Twitter account had been hacked, and she was angry and upset when he confessed the truth to her Monday morning, according to the Journal.
Sources familiar with Weiner’s call to Clinton aren’t sure exactly what was said, Politico
reported. But the Clintons are upset about the scandal, the sources say.
The Clintons treat Abedin like a member of their family. Chelsea Clinton toasted her as being like a sister at Chelsea’s own wedding last summer.
During Weiner's tearful news conference Monday in which he admitted sexting and other inappropriate online conduct, he apologized profusely to his wife, colleagues, and friends.
Despite his contrition, calls for his resignation contine to build.
