The strained relationship between President Barack Obama and Ohio Rep. John Boehner, the Republican set to lead House of Representatives augurs poorly for bipartisan compromise in Washington, reports the Wall Street Journal
While the congressman has charged the president with a "job-killing agenda," Obama has countered that the lawmaker is "scaring the hell out of business."
"Both of these men are on new ground, and how they interact will have a big impact on what plays out over the next two years," says Rep. Peter Roskam, an Illinois Republican.
Meanwhile, avid golfers Obama and Boehner have never played a round together. The failure of the White House to invite Boehner to the presidential links is considered a snub.
