House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer says he doesn't believe Democrats will lose control of the chamber if they muscle hotly-contested health care legislation through Congress.

In fact, the Maryland Democrat said Friday he believes the public will accept it once people understand it will end industry practices like declining coverage for pre-existing conditions and imposing monetary coverage caps.

Appearing on CBS's "The Early Show," Hoyer acknowledged there aren't yet enough votes to win this weekend's climactic vote. But he said lawmakers "are going to conclude by Sunday that this is a bill that does what we said it was going to do." Asked if Democrats risk losing control, he replied, "No, we don't think we're going to lose the majority,"
