Donald Trump delivered a blistering attack on America’s Iraq policy, telling Fox News’ Sean Hannity that the United States should seize Iraq’s oil or risk having it taken by Iran.

trump, iraq, oilAppearing on Hannity’s show on Thursday night, the billionaire real estate mogul declared: “We go to Iraq, we spend $1.5 trillion and our cities are dying all over the place. They don’t have any money. Iraq has the second largest oil [reserves] in the world — $15 trillion worth of oil, second only to Saudi Arabia.

“We go over there, we decapitate their armies. They have weak armies. It’s a corrupt society anyway. We then leave and Iran will come in and they will take over Iraq within two seconds after we leave.

“They won’t even have to fire a bullet. I hear they’re already making political inroads.

“They’re going to take the oil. So they’re going to get the second biggest oil [reserves] in the world. We made it possible with our soldiers, thousands of people dead, wounded, and less importantly, $1.5 trillion.

“So I said very simply that if it’s me, we take the oil.

“In the old days when you win a country, you win a country. Now with our stupid people we win a country and we lose money, we lose soldiers, and then we leave.

“At a minimum they [should] pay us back the $1.5 trillion. That’s a minimum.”

Trump, who said he will announce whether he is running for president before June, described himself as a “conservative with a big heart” and “Obama’s worst nightmare.”

“They do not want to run against me. I get it and he doesn’t get it,” Trump said.

He also disclosed that he won’t run for president as an independent in 2012 unless he is confident he can win and won’t risk siphoning Republican votes and helping Obama gain re-election.
