When it comes to figuring out who’s who in the debt ceiling debate, Newsweek’s Tina Brown contends that Republicans are the “suicide bombers.” It was the second day in a row that Republicans were slandered as terrorists on MSNBC.

In an exchange in which “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski tried to get the panelists to decide who has taken hostages — congressional Republicans or President Barack Obama — co-host Willie Geist said the GOP is “holding the hostage.”

At this point, Brown, the editor in chief of Newsweek and The Daily Beast, chimed in, “I think they’re the suicide bombers in all of this,” The Daily Caller reported.

The comment prompted Brzezinski to exclaim, “Oh, my.”

On Tuesday, “Hardball” host Chris Matthews likened the GOP to a sect of Islam often tied to terrorism, the Caller noted.

“Also, is the Republican Party willing to risk economic Armageddon in the name of religion?” Matthews said. “That is the religion of no taxes. Well, the GOP has become the Wahhabis of American government, willing to bring down the whole country in the service of their anti-tax ideology. This is no phony crisis. If you’re not careful — if we’re not careful, the country risks becoming Greece. Not ancient Greece, by the way, current Greece,” he said according to the Caller.
