Donald Trump has the best fundraising potential by far of all the potential Republican candidates – to the tune of $2 billion, says longtime Republican strategist Roger Stone. The source of that money: Trump himself, Stone tells Politico.

trump, money, president“I would imagine he would be a self-funder,” he says of the real estate mogul/reality TV star. “I think he passes up public finance because he then could say, ‘I don’t answer to anybody but myself and the American people, not special interests. He’s sitting on $2 billion in cash. That’s what he says. And if that’s true, he could write a check for $200 million.”

While he extols the virtues of Trump, Stone had harsh words for other candidates, calling them “very slow.” He says Sarah Palin won’t run, Mike Huckabee is unelectable and Mitt Romney is a “robotic” flip-flopper.
