Rep. Paul Ryan
, R-Wis., has taken a lot of heat for his Medicare reform plan in the budget approved by the House. But he says that he is open to the idea of keeping a traditional fee-for-service option for senior citizens as part of his plan, The Hill reports
The House Budget Committee chairman said in a panel discussion Thursday that he always has been open to making the changes he proposed optional. “I have said all along that all of those ideas are ideas we should be considering when it comes to legislation,” he said. “When you are down in the details, there should be a fee-for-service option alongside premium support. “They are all good ideas.”
It’s possible that Republicans and Democrats could agree to an option-based reform plan as a compromise to keep Medicare solvent.
