Most polls indicate the GOP will barely miss out on regaining control of the Senate this year. But watch out for 2012, Politico reports
. Republicans will have opportunities across the country to pick up more seats, and they face fewer seats of their own to defend.
“It’s not simply the lopsided mathematics — with at least 21 Democratic seats on the table in 2012, including two independents who sit with the Democrats, compared with 10 Republicans. It’s where the seats are located,” Politico reports
The locations are states where Democrats are in trouble: Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Florida, Missouri, Virginia and New Mexico.
So Republicans have nothing to worry about if they don’t take back the Senate in Tuesday’s elections. Even National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn (pictured)
has said the move for Republicans to take back the Senate represents a “two-cycle process.”
