The conservative wing of the Republican Party is in ascendance, poised to register huge gains in next month’s elections. So moderate Republicans are seeking to ensure that they have a seat at the table, Roll Call reports
Members of the Tuesday Group, comprised of moderate House
Republicans, say they will continue to have an impact.
Rep. Jo Ann Emerson, R-Mo., who is co-chairwoman of the group, says it may adjust its strategy, focusing on a few specific issues rather than working on a broader platform as in past years.
“I think it is going to be much more issue-based, where we can make a difference,” she said. “That would be my goal.”
To avoid shrinking the group has even expanded its membership to more conservatives.
