By Hiram Reisner   |   Thursday, 02 Jun 2011 04:31 AM

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 25 percent of the nation’s voters strongly approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Thirty-six percent strongly disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of minus 11.
Meanwhile, 61 percent of likely U.S. voters favor a law in their state that would shut down companies that knowingly and repeatedly hire illegal immigrants.  Sixty-five percent (65%) say those that hire illegal immigrantsare a bigger problem than the immigrants themselves.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who strongly disapprove from the number who strongly approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern time.

Overall, 49 percent of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's performance; 50 percent disapprove.
