The pro-family group headed by Ralph Reed, one of the nation’s most influential evangelical conservatives, is strongly endorsing the Newsmax ION Television 2012 Presidential Debate that Donald Trump will moderate on Dec. 27.
Reed and his influential Faith and Freedom Coalition announced on the organization's website on Wednesday:
“Newsmax is an outstanding news organization and I’m confident its GOP presidential candidate debate in Iowa broadcast on ION will be fair, balanced, professionally conducted and informative. I encourage members of Faith and Freedom Coalition in Iowa to attend. When it comes to opportunities for voters to hear directly from the candidates, I believe more is better. I’ll be watching on December 27.”
Reed also endorsed the debate on Facebook, and sent this message on Twitter: “Newsmax is a great news org and its pres debate in IA on 12-27 will be fair, balanced and informative. I encourage FFC members in IA to go.”
Reed is a leading campaign strategist and evangelical voice. He served as the first executive director of the Christian Coalition from 1989 to 1997, achieving prominence that included a cover story in Time magazine.
In 2009, he founded the Faith and Freedom Coalition, an organization “committed to educating, equipping, and mobilizing people of faith and like-minded individuals to be effective citizens.”
His announcement of support for the Newsmax ION Television Debate comes on the heels of endorsements from other major conservative organizations, including Grover Norquist's Americans for Tax Reform (ATR), and the American Conservative Union (ACU), chaired by Al Cardenas, which sponsors the annual Conservative Political Action Conference.
Both ATR and ACU are sponsors for the debate.
The debate, which will be available in 99 million homes throughout America on the ION Television network, will be streamed on Newsmax.com, the nation’s leading conservative website.
