As last year’s elections proved, Republicans are gaining in popularity. A new Gallup poll
shows that more Americans view the party favorably than unfavorably for the first time since 2005 – 47 percent to 43 percent. That’s an improvement from 61 percent unfavorable and 34 percent favorable just two years ago.
As for the Democrats, 47 percent of respondents view them unfavorably, while 46 percent have favorable views. That’s a dramatic worsening from a 55 percent favorable view and 39 percent unfavorable two years ago.
“If the Republican Party is able to sustain its net positive image, this will indicate the party has completely recovered from the downturn it took beginning in 2005,” Gallup says in a statement accompanying the poll.
