Obama: New Laws Show Bipartisanship

Wednesday, 22 Dec 2010 07:26 PM

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says Congress recently has shown the bipartisanship voters have been asking for. And he is promising more work between the two parties in the coming year.

Obama's remarks Wednesday to reporters at the White House cap a frenzied and surprisingly productive lame duck session on Capitol Hill.

After Republicans posted big Election Day victories in November, the Democratic-led Congress ended with a flurry of activity. Lawmakers passed a giant tax compromise and ended the military's ban on openly gay service. They ratified a nuclear arms treaty with Russia and approved billions of dollars in aid to survivors of the 2001 terrorist attacks.
