Limbaugh Praises Petraeus Choice, Notes Obama Flip

Wednesday, 23 Jun 2010 04:43 PM

Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh reached back in history Wednesday, recalling that, when President Obama was a U.S. senator, he roundly criticized Gen. David Petraeus.

In fact, Obama "essentially called him [Petraeus] a liar," Limbaugh said during his talk show as he commented on Obama’s tapping Petraeus to lead the country’s Afghan war effort after Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s firing for criticizing the president, according to a report in the San Francisco Examiner.

Limbaugh also slammed mainstream media for their praise of Obama’s speech in announcing McChrystal’s dismissal and Petraeus’ appointment.

But he praised Petraeus highly, labeling him a “warrior general” and saying that he accepted the post out of a call to duty.

"He is a bigger man than Vice President ‘bite me’ and President Obama quadrupled," Limbaugh said. The "bite me" reference was a quip from a McChrystal aide that was published in the Rolling Stone article that resulted in McChrystal's dismissal.
