The liberals are upset about last year’s Citizens United ruling that removed limits on corporate spending in elections, and they’re worried that the court will overturn the new healthcare law.

liberals, supreme, court, justicesLiberals are challenging the impartiality and ethics of Justices Clarence Thomas, Antonin Scalia and to a lesser extent Samuel Alito. Some of the attacks are even personal. The sniping constitutes the strongest campaign against a faction of justices since the early 1970s, when conservatives battled the liberal justices of the Warren Court, particularly Justices William O. Douglas and Abe Fortas, Politico reports.

The liberals say the decisions of Thomas and Scalia are politically biased and that their votes in cases may benefit friends and associates, both politically and financially.
