Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has told the National Guard to start building barrier walls nine miles off shore -- a measure intended to keep the Gulf oil spill from reaching his sate's coast by coverring the gaps between barrier islands, according to a report by ABC News.
Wasting no time, large Guard helicopters are already dropping sandbags into the sea.
"They are lifting up about 7,000 pounds of sandbags," said 1st Lt. James Tyson Gabler.
Meanwhile, the cost of the ambitious project is being accounted for in preparation for presenting a bill to BP.
