McConnell Expects Senate Health Repeal Vote

Sunday, 23 Jan 2011 11:09 AM

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell says he has no doubt that the Senate will vote on whether to go along with the House's decision to repeal the new health care law.

Democrats control the Senate and Majority Leader Harry Reid has pledged to block efforts to repeal the overhaul.

But McConnell tells "Fox News Sunday" that "I assure you we will have a vote on repeal." The Kentucky senator says that if the Senate doesn't pass a repeal, then opponents will try to dismantle it piece by piece.

He calls the health care law "the single worst piece of legislation" passed during his time in the Senate.

McConnell says Democrats are proud of the health law, and he says he doesn't know why Democrats don't want a vote on repeal.
