. Almost 25 percent of female Democrats in the House are in danger of defeat, including once rising stars like Ann Kirkpatrick of Arizona, Betsy Market of Colorado, and Mary Jo Kilroy of Ohio.
Three Democratic congresswomen first elected in 1992, which also was dubbed “Year of the Woman,” are vulnerable.
Meanwhile, Republican women such as Sharron Angle (pictured) in Nevada, Carly Fiorina in California, and Kelly Ayotte in New Hampshire are on the rise in their campaigns for the Senate.
Republican women, many inspired and backed by Sarah Palin, contend that the incoming GOP women may create a new political culture in Congress, especially if Republican leaders give them prominent positions.
