House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., said on Thursday that Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., needs to put an end to the spectacle surrounding a lewd Twitter photo by telling everything he knows, the National Journal reports.

Weiner’s efforts at damage control on Wednedsay left more questions unanswered. The liberal congressman, who wants to run for New York City mayor, said he might be the person in a below-the-waist, underwear-only photograph that someone sent using Twitter to a female college student last month. But he said he’s not certain, and he maintained that the picture was sent by a hacker and not by him.

“My advice would be to come clean and clear it up,” Cantor said on Thursday. “I mean, perhaps he’s trying, but I know there’s a lot of explaining going on without a lot of clarity.”

Cantor said Americans “are sick of seeing their elected officials tied up in scandals like this.”
