Campbell: Both Parties Shun Real Spending Cuts

Rep. John Campbell, R-Calif., one of three Republicans to vote against the fiscal year 2011 budget bill last week, says both parties are abdicating responsibility to truly cut spending. The dozens of floor votes on amendments to the bill make it clear that neither side is really willing to stomach a significant reduction in government spending, he says, according to The Hill.

"I think America is ready to do what is necessary to avoid national fiscal collapse and calamity. But, I'm not sure Congress is there yet."
