Nov. 15 (Bloomberg) -- House Speaker John Boehner said he is convinced the House would pass a debt-cutting agreement if one is reached by Congress’s supercommittee.
Boehner of Ohio told reporters in Washington today he considers a proposal by supercommittee member Senator Pat Toomey, a Pennsylvania Republican, to be a “fair offer.” The speaker also said that overhauling the tax code would be a “step in the right direction.”
The supercommittee faces a Nov. 23 deadline to propose a plan.
