How I Came to Natural Hormones

The first patient I treated with a natural hormone was my father, who had suffered from coronary artery disease since his first heart attack at age 40.

In the next 20 years, he suffered a second heart attack and underwent two bypass surgeries and multiple cardiac catheterizations, as well as angioplasties.

Furthermore, he was taking 12 different medications to treat elevated cholesterol and blood pressure, along with diabetes.

During my early studies into natural therapies, I couldn’t help thinking about my dad, who frankly looked like he was going to die at any moment.

For two decades, he had suffered from almost constant angina — a chest pain caused when the heart doesn’t get enough oxygen-rich blood. Any mild exertion would trigger an attack.

He took nitroglycerin pills for the condition. In fact, he ate them like candy.

When I began researching the use of natural, bioidentical hormones more seriously, I found a mountain of data showing direct correlations between low testosterone and thyroid hormone levels and the development of heart disease.

There were literally hundreds of medical articles pointing out the connection.

For many years, my father had been seeing the best cardiologist in his area — but he never once had his hormone system evaluated. I decided that it was time for an evaluation.

When I checked my father’s hormone status, I was stunned. His testosterone level was below detectable limits and his thyroid was near the bottom of the reference ranges.

I placed my father on two natural therapies: natural testosterone and desiccated thyroid hormone. Within a week, his long history of angina ended — never to return.

Furthermore, after 30 days of taking natural hormones, his cholesterol level — which had been above 300 mg/dL for longer than he could remember — fell below 200 mg/dL.

That happened without him even changing his terrible eating habits.

Most importantly, my dad looked much better. I was no longer afraid he was dying.

Once I saw the changes in my father, I knew that this was the kind of medicine that I wanted to practice. I left conventional medicine and began learning and practicing holistic medicine.

Today, I still follow this holistic path, and I can state with 100 percent certainty that the use of natural, bioidentical hormones provides some of the most satisfying results in medicine.

I am astonished that these therapies are still not taught in med school.
