Phyllis Schlafly, president and founder of the conservative grass-roots public policy organization Eagle Forum, declared to Newsmax that Defense Secretary Leon Panetta’s decision to allow women on the front lines is “an embarrassment to the country.”
“Lifting the ban is contrary to law and the wishes of the American people," Schlafly, a constitutional lawyer who single-handedly took down the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1970s, told Newsmax. “It is an embarrassment to the country.”
Schlafly recently published her 22nd book, “No Higher Power: Obama’s War on Religious Freedom.”
