Former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu told Newsmax TV that President Barack Obama had a “horrible” final debate with GOP challenger Mitt Romney on Monday.

“There’s no Obama folks here because they’re panicked,” Sununu told Newsmax in an exclusive interview after the debate at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. “They’re back in the room trying to figure out what their response would be.

“Mitt Romney underscored the fact that the president’s policies have been disastrous and laid out an agenda for how to fix them and made it very, very clear. Not only does he have the vision to be a commander-in-chief, he has the self-discipline and the decision-making capacity to do that.”

Story continues below the video.

Sununu, who served as Chief of Staff to President George H. W. Bush, added that Romney’s debate performance was perhaps most effective in assuring Israel that the US remains a strong ally.

“What Israel is looking for is a commander-in-chief who has the capacity to do everything that has to be done diplomatically to solve problems but has the backbone to stand there in the Middle East with them later on – and Mitt Romney clearly was that.”
