President Barack Obama embarrassed the nation when he announced June 13 there would be no quick decision about the U.S. response to chaos in Iraq, then headed off to play golf, radio talk show host Laura Ingraham said on Fox News.
The White House conveyed a "muddled, confused narrative" by sending an aircraft carrier
to the Persian Gulf, Ingraham said. Without troops, she said "there's only so much that that aircraft carrier can do."
"You can't make this up" Ingraham said, when Obama departed to "Palm Springs for a fund-raiser and some golf" following the announcement.
"I think it's embarrassing for the country," Ingraham told "Fox & Friends" on Tuesday. "And, I think it's very confusing to the voters and the citizens of the United States."
Iraq is embroiled in a crisis as Islamic militant insurgents threaten the capital city of Baghdad. The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has already seized other major cities and controls large regions of the country.
Countries are becoming "more vulnerable across the globe" because of the "stop and start foreign policy" of Obama, Ingraham said. She questioned what would happen to American security interests "if Iraq falls."
