Israel’s Iron Dome rocket defense system has proven to be a game changer in protecting Israel from enemy rockets, but the high cost of its interceptors and the fact they have less than a 100 percent success rate has sparked criticism. Is Iron Dome really worth the cost? The interception rate has improved since it was first deployed in 2011 from stopping 75 percent of rockets to now stopping 90 percent, and the cost should go down over time. But will it be enough to quiet critics in Israel and also in the United States, which is helping fund the system to the tune of $900 million?
