Apple Inc. said it will hold a Sept. 9 event, where the company is said to be preparing to unveil new iPhones and a wearable device.

The unveiling will be held at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts near Apple’s headquarters, in Cupertino, California, the company said in an e-mailed invitation.

Apple is set to introduce two new iPhone models: one with a 4.7-inch screen, and another with a 5.5-inch screen, people with knowledge of the plans have said. Apple also will unveil a new wearable device, Re/code reported yesterday, which would be the company’s first new product category since the iPad was introduced in 2010.

“Wish we could say more,” Apple said in the invitation.

Apple shares, which reached an intraday record high Thursday of $102.78, are up 28 percent this year. The stock was up less than 1 percent at $102.51 at 12:37 p.m. in New York.

Apple’s planned event on the second Tuesday in September is in keeping with a strategy of releasing new iPhone models in that month, kicking off a broader reboot of its product lineup in time for the holiday shopping season. Last year’s iPhone 5s and 5c also debuted on the second Tuesday of September.
