Michigan has more than its share of top-ranked colleges and universities. The state provides an ideal environment for students looking for first class education as well as rich campus life filled with recreation and leisure activities.
 
Most of the universities in the state also offer dual degree programs, which serve as a major attraction for students. Research is given more emphasis in the state universities and most have been classified as high research universities. The top five renowned colleges and universities in Michigan are:

The University of Michigan. Located in Ann Arbor, the University of Michigan is one of the oldest in the state and ranks 25th in the list of top American universities by the US News & World Report. The university, which has satellite campuses in Dearborn and Flint, offers both graduate and undergraduate programs. Students can select programs in disciplines such as aerospace engineering, astronomy and astrophysics, bio informatics, art and design, business administration, and communication studies. Campus life exposes students to song and dance, drama and art, politics and literature, museums and theater.
 
Michigan State University.  Located in East Lansing, the school is listed as a Public Ivy for its world-class research activities. It has a huge undergraduate population of over 35,000 students in the campus. U.S. News ranks it at no. 71 in the list of Top American Schools. Coupled with excellent academic infrastructure and a variety of academic programs.

Michigan Technological University. Located in Houghton, the school is a leader in providing premier engineering education and offers programs in biomedical engineering, biological sciences, geological/mining engineering, and undergraduate programs in forest resources and environmental sciences, business and economics, among others.

Central Michigan University. Located in Mount Pleasant, Central offers more than 150 educational programs. Western Michigan University.
Located in Kalamazoo, the school is recognized as one of the top research universities, and has an enrollment of nearly 25,000 and offers approximately 140 undergraduate programs, 67 master’s programs, and 29 doctoral programs. The institution offers research programs on topics ranging from nuclear physics to clean energy sources.
