Petland to Discontinue Puppy Sales?

Tuesday, 13 Sep 2011 11:09 AM

Petland, a chain pet store that originated in Ohio, announced that it will discontinue the sale of puppies and kittens, reports the Examiner

A press release, issued by the CEO of Petland, said that the change was “based on business fundamentals” and hinged on the fact that more consumers are purchasing pets over the internet.

However, subsequent calls to corporate headquarters revealed that Petland stores are independently owned and thus decisions about selling puppies and kitchens will be made at the individual store level.

Petland has previously been target by animal rights activists for its alleged sale of puppy mill puppies.
