British TV Station to Broadcast Mummification

Thursday, 15 Sep 2011 01:55 PM

British program “Mummify Me” will attempt to mummify an actual corpse on television in an attempt to better understand the ancient Egyptian practice, British TV channel 4 announced today.

Fox News reports that the corpse was donated to the show specifically for the purpose of mummification.

“Filmed inside one of the UK’s leading forensic pathology labs, the scientists want to unlock the preservation techniques used during the ‘Golden Age’ of Tutankhamen,” the channel said in a statement.
The channel originally made headlines back in 2002 after broadcasting an autopsy conducted by anatomist Gunther von Hagens.
