After tabloids noticed spots on Kim Kardashian’s calves and arms during recent public appearances, the starlet revealed she suffers from psoriasis, reports Life&Style.

Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner, was diagnosed with psoriasis at 30- years-old. Now, her daughter Kim is showing the same symptoms.

“There is a large genetic component,” Dr. Jordana S. Gilman, assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC, tells Life & Style.

Kim is concerned that the onset of symptoms could damage her career, which hinges primarily on her looks. “People don’t understand the pressure on me to look perfect,” Kim said. “When I gain a pound, it’s in the headlines, so imagine what the tabloids will do to me when they see all these spots.”

But Dr. Gilman assures that Kim’s condition is totally manageable with treatment options ranging from creams to injectable medications. “If managed properly, it can be kept under control and she can lead a perfectly normal life.”
