Recently rumors had been flying that former “Ghost Whisperer” star Jennifer Love Hewitt was to join the cast of hit NBC crime drama “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”
The show is set to undergo some serious changes in the next cycle due to the concluding contracts of lead stars Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay. Meloni, who plays Detective Elliot Stabler, will not be returning at all for the show’s 13th season, and Hargitay’s Olivia Benson appears less in the season’s second half.
The void left by the two stars was supposed to leave room for a new female lead, to be played by Hewitt. However, Deadline declares that SVU producers are no longer considering the actress for the role.
Despite starring in some well-loved movies like “Can’t Hardly Wait” and “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” Love Hewitt was recently declared as the worst reviewed film actress since 1985 by RottenTomatoes.com.
