5 Ways to Make My Dog Happy

Tuesday, 07 Dec 2010 11:42 AM

Here are a few ways that you can make your dog happy:

1.Do not keep your pet dog chained unnecessarily when at home. Tying dogs all the time makes them become aggressive and irritable; this can cause physical and behavioral problems. Pets tend to get entangled with the chain or rope they are tied to and they may get choked in the process. Remember, dogs love to roam around in open spaces; do not keep them limited to one corner. Your dog should be taken out on jaunts, picnics, and walks to socialize them.

2. Dogs like unconditional love, care, and attention just like people. Make sure you praise your dog very often, and give it  frequent feedback. Touch your pet gently on the head or the body to make it feel happy and wanted. When your dog is a puppy, you may also build a kennel with cloth or cardboard so that it feels warm and cared for. Do not forget to provide good shelter in winter. Make sweaters to keep your dog warm during the winter. Shelters should be big enough for the dog to be able to sleep, stand up, and turn around.
3. Never hit, yell, or hurt your dog physically. Hitting or yelling will make your dog scared of you, and it may run away from you. So, make your dog feel secure and loved through your actions. Make sure you feed the dog on time and serve its favorite food items to keep it happy and in good health. Toys stuffed with nutritious dog food make for good chew toys.
4. Pamper your pet very often by shampooing. Giving your dog a bath, playing with it, and showering it with attention will go a long way in fostering a bond between you and your dog. Learn to talk and communicate with your dog. Maintain hygiene, and protect your dog from fleas, worms, and other insects to prevent any diseases or ill-health. Make sure your dog doesn’t get a chance to misbehave with any human being or other dogs anytime, anywhere.
5. Visit a vet to make sure your dog is healthy: Visiting a vet for regular health checkups will help you keep your dog in good shape.
